MONTEREY, CA — February 24, 2025 — As LanguageLine Solutions enters the fourth year of its Angela’s Trees initiative, the company proudly reflects on the program’s significant environmental impact. Since its launch on Earth Day 2022, the initiative has resulted in the planting of more than 70,000 trees across 35 countries and five continents—a powerful step in combating climate change.

Beyond the impressive number of trees planted, one crucial question arises: How much CO2 have these trees absorbed?

According to data from One Tree Planted, a global reforestation partner, each tree absorbs an average of 22 pounds (10 kg) of CO2 per year. Given that LanguageLine planted 70,609 trees as of the end of 2024, the total estimated carbon absorption is a staggering 1,553,398 pounds (over 776 tons) of CO2 annually.

The Science Behind CO2 Absorption

The rate at which a tree absorbs CO2 depends on several factors, including:

  • Tree species – Fast-growing species like poplars and eucalyptus absorb more CO2 than slower-growing trees such as oaks and pines.
  • Tree age and size – Young trees absorb CO2 at a faster rate during their growth phase, while mature trees serve as long-term carbon stores.
  • Growing conditions – Optimal soil, water, and sunlight availability increase a tree’s CO2 absorption capacity.
A Commitment to Sustainability

Angela’s Trees represents LanguageLine’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. With every tree planted, the initiative contributes to global reforestation efforts, helping to restore ecosystems, improve air quality, and combat climate change.

"We are proud that our efforts not only support global sustainability but also make a tangible impact in reducing CO2 levels worldwide,” said Simon Yoxon-Grant, President and CEO of LanguageLine Solutions.

Continuing the Mission in 2025

With a better understanding of the environmental benefits of tree planting, LanguageLine remains committed to expanding Angela’s Trees in 2025 and beyond. By continuing this initiative, the company reinforces its mission of creating a more sustainable future—one tree at a time.
