A San Jose police officer helps launch a volunteer phone interpreting service to communicate with Vietnamese refugees.

1984

CALL (Communications and Language Line) begins operations.

1989

AT&T acquires CALL and names it AT&T Language Line Services (LLS). The company reaches 24K annual calls.

1992

Language Line Services launches Translation & Localization services.

1995

Language Line Services receives its 1st patent for “On-Demand Language Interpretation in Telecommunications System.”

1996

Language Line Services launches its first website and provides interpreting for the Atlanta Summer Olympic Games.

1999

Providence Equity acquires Language Line Services and it begins operating independently.

1st global interpretation center opens.

Teleperformance acquires LanguageLine Solutions. InSight Video Interpreting is launched.

LanguageLine Labs releases its patented TrueSound audio-amplification enclosure, enhancing an iPad’s volume without wires or batteries.

2019

LanguageLine Solutions receives its 23rd patent. The company gets its 1st “Great Places to Work” certification.

Demand for audio and telehealth services rise due to COVID-19 Pandemic. Interpreter staffing reaches 13.6K+.

2021

Session Initiated Protocol (SIP) connectivity for telehealth and virtual meetings enables instant access to a growing team of 16K+ interpreters.
