Each interpretation session is a three-way conversation between you (the interpreter), the client, and their customer. As an interpreter, you listen to a limited-English proficient individual, analyze what they say, and accurately convey its meaning.
Our interpreters have a clear understanding of the role of the interpreter and the national standards for interpreter protocol, including the ability to accurately render information in two languages, while maintaining the pace of the conversation and a neutral point of view. Successful candidates must demonstrate:
- A clear understanding of meaning in two or three languages
- Accurate rendering of information with no addition or omissions
- A pleasant, professional demeanor and voice
- Proper diction, enunciation, and pronunciation
- Basic computer skills
- Outstanding customer service skills
- Strong cultural sensitivity
