Leading Provider of Language-Based Services Increasing Interpreter Workforce

Language Line Services Launches Recruitment Effort in Monterey, CA &  Elk Grove, IL to Meet New Client Demand for Language Interpretation Solutions

Monterey, CA (April 28, 2008) Language Line Services, the world’s leading provider of language-based services, has announced plans to increase its Monterey, CA and Elk Grove, IL-based interpreter workforce to keep up with the exploding demand for its over-the-phone interpretation services.  The company hopes to hire over 200 new interpreters during this recruitment push, which comes on the heels of a large-scale staffing effort that began in August 2007 to increase the company’s interpreter workforce by nearly 50 percent. Currently, Language Line Services employs over 3,000 professional interpreters worldwide.

Language Line Services’ interpreters provide services in more than 170 languages that are available to clients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year. Interpreters are trained to assist the customers of companies in various fields including banking, telecom and insurance.

In addition, Language Line Services offers phone interpretation to hospitals, courts, 911 call centers, and other emergency first responders across the United States, Canada and United Kingdom.

Louis Provenzano, Language Line Services’ President and Chief Operating Officer, noted that the company’s business has expanded and continues to grow as a result of favorable market conditions and Language Line Services’ evolving suite of innovative and high quality language solutions.

Individuals with strong bilingual skills who want to become telephone interpreters are needed to increase Language Line Services’ staff in its World Headquarters in Monterey, CA, and its Midwest center in Elk Grove, IL.

No prior interpretation experience is required as Language Line Services provides an extensive orientation program accompanied by ongoing training and mentoring for professional fields such as banking, medical, insurance, financial and customer service interpreting for its employees.

Yolanda Almader, a Spanish language interpreter who has worked at the Monterey center for nine years, noted that a job with Language Line Services is a great platform to launch a career in the language services industry.

“Working as a Language Line Services interpreter has strengthened my linguistic capabilities and provided me with a broader set of professional skills,” said Almader.

It is also very rewarding to know that I am helping people every day."

“This is an extremely exciting time in our company’s history,” added Provenzano. “We look forward to welcoming a new class of interpreters to the Language Line Services family.”
