Proclamation
WHERE AS, Your World, Your Language, presented by Language Line Services and AT&T, is a new service that connects organizations with qualified limited English proficient customers nationwide; and
WHERE AS, Your World, Your Language will provide access to interpreters through a toll-free telephone number in order to reach critical commercial organizations and several tourist-related services to help unite citizens with their community; and
WHERE AS, Your World, Your Language will be immediately launched in eight languages consisting of Cantonese, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Russian, Spanish, Tagalog, and Vietnamese, with the capability to eventually expand to over 170 languages after the initial launch; and
WHERE AS, Your World, Your Language has chosen San Francisco as the launch city for this new service because of its wonderful diversity, demonstrating its continued leadership as the premier city in the United States that supports all its citizens regardless of culture or language; now
WHERE AS, that I, Gavin Newsom, Mayor of the City and County of San Francisco, on the occasion of the unveiling of the Your World, Your Language interpretation service, do hereby proclaim September 14, 2006 as...
