Citigroup’s Commitment to Diversity Recognized by Language Line Services

MONTEREY, CA — (September 26, 2006) — Citigroup (NYSE:C) has been honored by Language Line Services, the leading provider of interpretation services, with a “2006 Diversity Award” for the company’s commitment to serving consumers in 145 languages. The award, which acknowledges distinction in the promotion of diversity, is given annually by Language Line Services to recognize companies that excel at meeting the needs of their Limited English Proficient customers. Citigroup is the second company to receive Language Line Services’ Diversity Award.

“If we serve you in the language you feel most comfortable with, it helps us deepen and broaden our relationship with you,” said Ana Duarte-McCarthy, Citigroup’s Chief Diversity Officer. “It’s a small example of our continuous push to put our clients’ needs first, and to recognize and appreciate their diversity.”

To help accomplish their diversity goals, Citigroup has created an aggressive communications program with Language Line Services. Using Language Line Services’ over-the-phone interpretation services, Citigroup’s limited English speaking customers in the U.S. are able to communicate with the company in their own language regarding banking, credit cards, mortgages, asset management and the company’s numerous other financial services for businesses and individuals.

“Citigroup has shown their commitment to diversity by engaging consumers in the languages they speak,” said Louis Provenzano, Language Line Services’ newly appointed President and Chief Operating Officer. “Bringing people together and creating new opportunities through the removal of language barriers is central to everything we do at Language Line Services. We are proud to work with a company that is equally committed to this endeavor.”

Language Line Services has been Citigroup’s chosen provider of over the phone interpretation services for limited English-speaking customers in the U.S. since 1990. During the past 12 months, Citigroup used Language Line Services to communicate with customers in 145 different languages.
